Check /etc/defaults/timidity

[edit] timidity setup for Rosegarden

First you need alsa, arts, and jackd set up
Then start timidity as a local user with

timidity -iA -Oj -R &

or

timidity -iA -Oj -RP &

You might want to create a timidity file under ~/.kde/Autostart

Be sure to set the execute bit

killall jackd
killall timidity
jackd -d alsa &
timidity -iA -Oj &

[edit] How to use Timidity with Noteedit

To configure Noteedit to use the Timidity port go to the menu bar, Settings, Configure Noteedit, Sound, and click on one of the Timidity ones, and hit okay. It should work now.
