Shipping module for OSCommerce
To download see T-ship
The idea behind this module is to not offer any brand of shipping. Offering particular shippers limits schedules, complicates your work, and marries one to particular shippers. This is not what you want when time comes to bargain with the shippers! Also, using shippers APIs often buggy and slow - also not a good thing. This module offers ground, 3 day and overnight - note it does not offer any brand of shipping - this way you decide which shipper to use not the customer.
The bad thing, is you have to populate that table with the shipping rates you want.
By the way - the way we use this is we set the rates and zones to UPS's rates (and EMS for international orders) and use that to get a shipping amount. You will see in the rates table that we use the We then will use what ever shipping means we want depending on shipping cut off time - cost etc. The thinking is that we make the choice of carrier (we do a lot of express mail for 2 lb packages) .
The other part you will see is you can set the surcharge every month as it changes.
The downside is that you will have to update your tables once a year - Mysql notes shows how to do that via csv fies if you run Linux - should be something almost as handy on Windoze.
